Story

IN PRAISE OF THE CRONE

Because my life choices have been so different from those of the women I knew as I was growing up, I have had to consciously seek out role models from whom I could learn. Wise older women mean even more to me as time goes by, and I am so very grateful to those who are in my life today! I have tried to find words to describe how precious these relationships are.

Lyrics

IN PRAISE OF THE CRONE

Copyright 2015 Dana Clark

V: She's the beauty of the full blown rose

The sweetness of the ripest pear

She's the radiance of sunset's glow

The cooling breath of autumn's air

She's the wisdom only time can give

The dream of all we hope to be

She's the harvest of a life well-lived

She remembers what we've yet to see

CH: Our ancient mothers speak through her to us

Calling forth the secrets hidden in our bones

She's the teacher and the guide we've learned to trust

She's claimed her power

She's won her freedom

She is the crone

V: She's the tenderness of loving care

The healing that the wounded seek

She's the remedy when we despair

The wholeness that the broken need

She's the strength that has been proven true

She's more complete with every breath

She's ageless and eternally renewed

She's fearless in the face of death

CH: Our ancient mothers speak through her to us

Calling forth the secrets hidden in our bones

She's the teacher and the guide we've learned to trust

She's claimed her power

She's won her freedom

She is the crone

Recorded at home with my favorite dulcimer.
